Dele Alli was previously linked with a potential move to Birmingham City, Wrexham and West Brom
Dele Alli was linked with a potential move to Wrexham, West Brom and Birmingham City earlier this season.
It was reported by the Daily Mail back in September of last year that the trio of Championship clubs were all considering a move for the 29-year-old.
The midfielder was previously plying his trade with Italian side Como, but had his contract terminated after just one appearance in Serie A.
Dele Alli has also played for the likes of Besiktas and Everton in the years since his departure from Tottenham Hotspur, with the ex-England international star having endured a dramatic fall from grace after his stunning rise under Mauricio Pochettino.
But it remains to be seen whether he will ever make the step into the second division, as we take a look at what’s going on with the player at the moment…

Dele Alli was spotted in Dublin in recent weeks, which led to speculation regarding a potential move to Bohemian FC.
However, Bohs star Dawson Devoy responded to the links between the club and the midfielder by denying that a move is on the cards.
He claimed that the 29-year-old has not been involved with their preparations for the new season, which got underway last weekend, seemingly closing the door on any possible move.
“No, it was funny when it came out!” said Devoy, via Balls.ie.
“Even the players, I think, were thinking he was going to come in training.
“But no, I don’t know where it came from.
“No, I don’t think…well, he hasn’t been in with us anyways!
“Unless the boss has other ideas, no.
“I haven't heard anything!”
However, Dele Alli was also making headlines this month due to reports that he lost up to £150,000 playing poker in a London casino.
The midfielder was once one of the top earners at Tottenham Hotspur during the height of his career, having helped the team to the 2019 Champions League final.
He was a breakout star under Pochettino, and he formed a lethal partnership with Harry Kane that saw him once bag 18 Premier League goals in a single campaign, with the side coming second in the Premier League in 2016/17 as a result.
It’s been claimed that Dele Alli was losing £25,000 per night playing poker in a casino in London, racking up a total loss of £150,000.

Dele Alli’s last appearance came on 15 March last year when he played just nine minutes of a 2-1 loss to AC Milan.
The midfielder’s return to action was cut short when he was sent off for Cesc Fabregas’ side, and he did not return to the team again.
His contract was terminated in September following the close of the summer transfer window, making him a free agent.
It has been several months since then, and it remains to be seen whether he will make any kind of return to professional football.
Birmingham, Wrexham and West Brom share mixed fortunes in the Championship this season, with the former pair competing for promotion while the latter battles relegation.
It is possible they could reignite their interest in him due to his free agency, but it’s difficult to imagine him playing in the second division at all this season.
It’s entirely likely that he’s already played his last game of senior football at this stage, with the 29-year-old showing no signs of making a comeback anytime soon.
