Lewis Travis' future at Blackburn is uncertain amid speculation over a move to Derby County or Wrexham
Lewis Travis’ future at Blackburn Rovers is uncertain amid speculation surrounding Derby County and Wrexham.
It was reported earlier this month by Alan Nixon that the Lancashire outfit are seeking up to £2 million for the midfielder, with the Red Dragons one of the clubs eyeing his signature.
It was also exclusively revealed by FLW that Derby are in the mix as well, with the Rams looking to reunite the player with manager John Eustace.
Travis has just 12 months remaining on his current contract, which could force Blackburn into a sale in order to avoid losing him for nothing in 2026.
Here we take a look at what the 27-year-old has recently said about his contract status as speculation mounts on his Ewood Park future…
Speaking in March, Travis admitted that he has yet to open talks with Blackburn over a potential new deal.
He revealed that he would like to remain with the club, and that in between seasons might be the best time to open any discussions over his future.
"No, I haven't," said Travis, the Lancashire Telegraph.
"Yeah, of course I would like to stay.
“I've been here most of my footballing career.
“But yeah, like I said, no one's said anything to me.
"That's football. It is what it is.
“I think football is football and if it's not here, it'll be elsewhere but I'm not focused on that.
"I wouldn't really want to be talking about contracts at this stage of the season anyway.
“I think contract talks are best talked out of the playing season.
“So yeah, let's just finish this season strong and try to get in the top six and then we'll take it from there."
Blackburn finished seventh in the Championship table in the previous campaign, with Valerien Ismael’s side missing out on a play-off place by just two points.
Travis has been a mainstay of the Blackburn first team squad since breaking into the first team squad in 2017.
Other than a brief loan spell at Ipswich during the 2023/24 campaign, he has spent his entire senior career at Ewood Park.
The midfielder featured 38 times in the Championship last season, proving he is still a key part of the squad under Ismael.
He contributed two goals and one assist, as the club narrowly missed out on a play-off place.
It remains to be seen whether he will remain with Blackburn going into next season amid this speculation over his future.
Former Rovers boss Eustace could look to bring him to Pride Park in order to reunite after their promising work together.
Meanwhile, Wrexham are preparing for life in the Championship after earning a third promotion in a row last season to climb out of League One.
Phil Parkinson’s side were in the National League as recently as 2023, but are now looking to establish themselves in the second division.
