Liverpool fans made their feelings about Marc Guehi more than known

The Crystal Palace captain was inches away from becoming one of Arne Slot's many summer signings.

However, since Steve Parish wanted to keep the centre-back around due to the lack of depth they had, he stayed put and chose to join Man City during the winter transfer window instead.

So, with this in mind, his first outing in City's colours against Liverpool was always going to be an interesting one with fans making sure that the Englishman knew how they really felt about his transfer.

As per an update from Sky Sports journalist Adam Bate, the Anfield faithful were far from kind to Guehi with the reporter simply adding that there were "boos for Guehi" in the clash.

Liverpool should have done everything possible to sign Marc Guehi in January

Liverpool may have spent a lot of money on improving their team during the summer transfer window but, even before the January window opened, it was clear that the Reds needed some defensive reinforcement.

Several names were linked with an Anfield switch throughout the month and, before Guehi agreed a deal with City, the Englishman's name was being mentioned every other day.

Others such as Nico Schlotterbeck, Lutsharel Geertruida and even Dayot Upamecano were linked with Liverpool moves.

However, in true Liverpool fashion, the Reds chose to leave things way too deep into the window and, even though they enquired about Geertruida and Denzel Dumfries, a move never came to fruition.

Guehi would've been the perfect defensive option for Liverpool, especially since he'd be classed as a homegrown player.

He already has plenty of Premier League experience and although he'd have to battle for a starting place against Van Dijk and Ibrahima Konate, his addition would've made plenty of sense.
