Liam Rosenior faces a tough challenge this weekend as he looks to improve his dreadful Chelsea record against top teams.

After a nice warmup win over Port Vale, Chelsea get stuck into their tough run to end the season this weekend when they take on Manchester City.

Bobby Vincent of Football.London is looking ahead to the game, which sees manager Liam Rosenior given a big chance to improve his record.

Rosenior needs to improve big game record

The piece makes the point that, while seven defeats from 20 games is too many, the five of those defeats came against Arsenal and PSG, two of the best teams in Europe this season. That’s certainly a worthwhile asterisk.

Man City, who are really finding some form now, will be in a similar category. Rosenior has so many doubts about his ability and suitability right now, beating the world’s best would do a huge amount for his reputation.

So how does he go about it? He’s got a whole week of training to work on things. The first stage is just getting his players to avoid the silly mistakes which cost them heavily against Arsenal and PSG. With a weak looking defence, that may be easier said than done.
