With the World Cup taking place in Australia and New Zealand, plenty of fans around the world will be in bed when some of the games take place. Not to worry, we have you covered.

Quick, what were the results?

France were in sensational form again with Eugénie Le Sommer scoring twice as they thrashed Morocco to set up a meeting with hosts Australia.

It is hard to look past France here for performance of the day.

They were scintillating at times, winning the ball back from Morocco high and always seeking to do quick damage with it.

Some of the football which led to their goals was fantastic and they sent out a big warning to the rest of the competition that they will be a major threat few defences will be able to stop on this form.

Their clash with Australia in Brisbane promises to be a blockbuster.

And a Player of the Day for me?

Kadidiatou Diani followed up her hat-trick against Panama with another outstanding individual showing and looks like she’s really found her feet in the tournament now.

She was involved in all three of France’s first half goals which came in an eight-minute spell to put things beyond any doubt.

Diani nodded home the opener, set up Kenza Dali with a that cutback and then it was her pressure which forced the mistake which led to Le Sommer’s finish.

Her four goals in the tournament are now the joint most ever for a French player in one edition of the competition, joining Wendie Renard, who achieved the feat in 2019.

Come on, show us a picture perfect moment:

Look at that emotion from Usme after her winner against Jamaica.

Goosebumps inducing!

Anything else I should know?

There’s now some brief respite to relax and take stock ahead of the last eight so don’t be concerned by the lack of action over the next two days.

But things return with a bang on Friday with a dream double helping as Spain take on the Netherlands and Japan face Sweden.
