Football League World has taken a look at what has happened to Sinclair Armstrong after leaving QPR and Bristol City for Turkey in the summer

Bristol City have undergone a huge summer of change, as the Robins target a place in the Championship play-offs once again with a new look structure both on and off the pitch.

It's been a busy year or so at Ashton Gate.

Gerhard Struber was dismissed from his post as Bristol City boss and replaced by Roy Hodgson for the final few games of last season, but before that, Charlie Boss replaced Tom Rawcliffe as CEO of the club.

Since then, James Ellis has been appointed as sporting director after a previous spell as Arsenal's technical director, whilst Michael Skubala has become the new head coach following Hodgson's departure.

A busy summer transfer window has followed, with roughly a third of the squad being replaced by fresh blood, as among those exits was Irish striker Sinclair Armstrong, who has since begun a new adventure across the globe.

With Skubala taking the helm at Bristol City, the former Lincoln City boss was always going to want to stamp his authority on the side with his own additions.

The likes of Lorent Tolaj, Dominic Ballard, Sam Tickle, Sam Greenwood, and Rio Cardines all arrived in BS3, as each of Emil Riis, Max Bird, Ross McCrorie, Mark Sykes, and Armstrong all left.

Armstrong had joined the Robins from Championship rivals Queens Park Rangers two years prior, but found hitting the back of the net consistently a tricky task, with just seven goals and zero assists in 83 appearances for the club across all competitions for Bristol City.

Turkish outfit Goztepe, who are owned by the Sport Republic group just like Southampton, parted ways with around £2 million to bring the Dublin-born forward across the continent this summer, where he has yet to justify that fee.

Since moving to West Turkey, Armstrong has had an overall slow start to life.

Although he would score on his debut in a 3-3 draw away to Samsunspor, in which former Sheffield United midfielder Alex Matos also found the back of the net, the Irish striker has yet to find the back of the net since, and has seen his minutes decrease game by game.

Starting just two of his five Süper Lig appearances thus far, being withdrawn from the second at half-time, Armstrong has been limited to substitute appearances since, playing fewer and fewer minutes in each one.

Goztepe currently sit bottom of the table with two draws and five defeats, as Armstrong will be hoping to be given the opportunity to turn their season around.

In truth, Bristol City won't be too heartbroken over Armstrong's departure.

The Irishman, for all of his endeavour, work rate, and physical blessing, could not find the back of the net consistently enough in the Championship, and though his skillset was useful, he simply did not show the form needed as a centre-forward fighting towards the top of the English second tier.

His sub-par goalscoring record with Queens Park Rangers previously ought to have been a warning sign for the Robins, who took the gamble on him anyway, and having collected a £2 million fee for the striker, will be pleased to have gotten him off the books when they did.

Following Armstrong out of the Ashton Gate doors were Riis and Cornick, as the Robins have undergone a complete revamp in the final third.

Joining Tolaj and Ballard up top is the free addition of the experienced Elijah Adebayo, who will no doubt play a big role for the club throughout the course of the campaign.

Armstrong would never make an appearance under Skubala, though with Tolaj and Ballard having hit the ground running since their moves from Plymouth Argyle and Leyton Orient, respectively, the Irishman's departure hasn't been sorely felt.
