Manchester United are hoping to book their place in the Women’s Champions League third qualifying round alongside the likes of Real Madrid, and here our guide reveals who they could play and when the draw is taking place.
The second qualifying round concludes on Saturday, with 11 teams set to join seven others who enter the Champions League directly in the third qualifying round.
Marc Skinner’s side are among those fighting for their Champions League survival on Saturday.
United won the semi-final of their second round mini-tournament against PSV in convincing style, beating the Dutch side 4-0.
The Red Devils need to beat Hammarby in Sweden to book their place in the third qualifying round, otherwise, they will drop into the new Women’s Europa Cup competition.
The draw for the third qualifying round of the Women’s Champions League will take place at 11am (BST) on Sunday, August 31st.
Nine two-legged ties will be created to determine who joins the nine teams who have already qualified for the new league phase format.
Defending champions Arsenal, Chelsea, Barcelona, Lyon, Paris Saint-Germain, Bayern Munich, VfL Wolfsburg, Juventus and Benfica directly enter the tournament in the 18-team league phase.
Third qualifying round matches will take place on September 11th and September 18th, before the draw for the league phase will commence on September 19th.
The qualifying rounds of the Women’s Champions League are split into two paths: the Champions Path (for domestic title winners) and the League Path (teams who did not win their league).
Clubs are seeded for the draws in accordance with UEFA’s club coefficient rankings. In both paths, there will be a draw involving the same number of seeded and unseeded teams.
The club drawn first will play the first leg of the tie at home.
There are eight teams who will enter the Women’s Champions League in the third qualifying round.
St. Polten of Austria are the only side who sealed their place in the Champions Path.
In the League Path, Real Madrid, AS Roma, BK Hacken, Atletico Madrid, Eintracht Frankfurt and Sporting CP all enter the competition.
Those teams will be joined by the winners of the following second round qualifying games this weekend;

Manchester United’s potential third qualifying round opponents would depend on whether SK Brann beats Braga.
If SK Brann beat Braga
Manchester United will be unseeded due to their coefficient score of 13.699. This is lower than Real Madrid (43.000), BK Hacken (28.000), Paris FC (14.000), SK Brann (17.000) and the winner of the AS Roma (32.000) vs Sparta Prague (21.000) clash.
Possible opponents in this scenario would be Real Madrid, BK Hacken, Paris FC, SK Brann or the winner of Roma vs Sparta Prague.
If Braga beat SK Brann
Manchester United will be seeded, avoiding a matchup with Real Madrid.
Possible opponents in this scenario would be Atletico Madrid, Eintracht Frankfurt, Sporting, Braga or the winner of FC Minsk vs Austria Wien.
