When Manchester City’s Rayan Cherki almost joined PSG | OneFootball

Rayan Cherki (22) is currently shining at Manchester City, having made the move to the Etihad Stadium from formative club Olympique Lyonnais last summer. 

However, it could have been a lot different for Cherki, who, the summer prior, had almost joined Paris Saint-Germain. RMC Sport journalist Fabrice Hawkins, speaking on Canal Supporters, revealed how close the deal was to happening. 

As per Hawkins, there was a deal in place between all parties to see Cherki trade Lyon for PSG in the summer of 2024. He was all set to undergo his medical, however, the player, for reasons unknown, then backed out of the deal.

The deal therefore ultimately collapsed and, as revealed by Get French Football News at the time, PSG were left infuriated by the collapse of the deal, which ensured that the European champions did not reactivate a deal later on. 

Cherki has started life well at Manchester City and was recently part of the France squad that secured qualification for next summer’s FIFA World Cup.
