The FC Barcelona team is not going through one of its best forms, as it has fallen to two defeats in the last two games, to Atletico Madrid in the Copa del Rey and to Girona in La Liga.

Today, they have the chance to get back to winning ways with a match against Levante. Ahead of this game, the German coach Hansi Flick talked to the press yesterday, and as Mundo Deportivo has noted, one of the highlights of this presser was his outlining of the main weaknesses that his team has shown.

Talking about these issues, the German coach said:

“It’s not easy because there are several different points. When you watch the games, it’s about the balls lost and how you lose them—whether in the build-up or in the final third. If we play against a low block and lose the ball, they have space for counterattacks. That also means you need to be well-positioned defensively. If you lose too many balls and are not in a good defensive position, you open up spaces for the opponent. These are just three points, but there are more.”

Flick went on to comment on some other issues:

“We have to act as a team. If you are well-connected and without large gaps, when you lose the ball, you can press high, and that’s something we’ve been missing in recent games. We haven’t been active enough either with or without the ball to attack spaces. This is what we need to do. The intensity has to be higher within our philosophy. These are four, five, or six points.”

It was quite brave of Hansi Flick to highlight his team’s shortcomings in this way, and this means that the German coach already knows what work he has to do.

Hopefully, he will be able to eliminate these weaknesses as the Barcelona team reaches the last and decisive stages of the season.
