Ahead of this game, the German coach Hansi Flick talked to the press yesterday, and as Mundo Deportivo has noted, one of the highlights of this presser was his outlining of the main weaknesses that his team has shown.

Talking about these issues, the German coach said:

Flick went on to comment on some other issues:

“We have to act as a team. If you are well-connected and without large gaps, when you lose the ball, you can press high, and that’s something we’ve been missing in recent games. We haven’t been active enough either with or without the ball to attack spaces. This is what we need to do. The intensity has to be higher within our philosophy. These are four, five, or six points.”

It was quite brave of Hansi Flick to highlight his team’s shortcomings in this way, and this means that the German coach already knows what work he has to do.
