Where and when to cheer Jill Scott on her homecoming finale

Supporters are urged to line the route as Jill Scott tackles the final 28-mile leg from Bishop Aukland to the Stadium of Light, concluding her 388-mile Sport Relief challenge to help disadvantaged people across the UK.
Sunderland Echo highlights key vantage points and approximate timings based on an estimated 4.50pm finish, and advises checking her Comic Relief live tracker.
She set off from Wembley Stadium on Monday, 8 June, cycling to Villa Park then 99 miles to Everton’s Hill Dickinson Stadium, before a 38-mile run to Manchester and a 111-mile ride to Bishop Aukland. Today, 12 June, she completes the homecoming run.
Around midday she is due in Durham, crossing New Elvet Bridge and heading through Gilesgate onto Sunderland Road. West Rainton follows, with an expected pass before 2pm.
East Rainton comes next, before 2.30pm, with a good spot outside East Rainton Primary School. Houghton-Le-Spring is estimated between 3pm and 3.30pm near St Michael’s church.
In Middle Herrington she continues along Durham Road past the Board Inn, likely before 3.30pm. Through Tunstall she is expected before 3.45pm by the Barnes Toby Carvery.
Keel Square and the Keel Crossing bridge should offer prime views at around 4pm. She then heads to Roker, with a vantage outside Roker Park at the Park Parade junction between 4pm and 4.30pm.
From Roker she heads for the finish along Newcastle Road, with the Stadium of Light arrival estimated at 4.50pm. Donations can be made via her Comic Relief funding page.
