Luka Modric, Rafael Leao and Christian Pulisic are among the players whose Milan futures remain uncertain, but the club could also have to make decisions on the likes of Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Fikayo Tomori as well: Here is where the Rossoneri stand with some of their key players ahead of the summer transfer window.
It has been a season of ups and downs for the Rossoneri, who had been in second place for large spells of the 2025-26 season, but hit an alarming run of poor form from April onwards, which almost saw them drop out of the Serie A top four in the final weeks of the season.
Their chances of qualifying for next season’s Champions League received an enormous boost on Sunday when they picked up their first win in four matches with a 2-1 victory away against Genoa, while Juventus lost 2-0 to Fiorentina. This means that Milan now occupy third place and have a two-point advantage over Como in fifth heading into the final weekend of the Serie A season.

According to reports from La Gazzetta dello Sport, qualifying for the Champions League is crucial to keep hold of former Ballon d’Or winner Modric for another season.
The 40-year-old joined the Rossoneri on a one-year contract with an option to extend after leaving Real Madrid last summer, but it is likely that he would leave San Siro after one year without Champions League football.
Securing a spot in Europe’s premier competition does not help Leao’s chances of staying on in Milan though, according to Monday’s report. The 26-year-old is approaching the end of his seventh season in Serie A, and despite being one of the league’s marquee stars, Milan are seemingly ready to part company with him this summer.
The Portugal international has not impressed in his new centre-forward role in Massimiliano Allegri’s 3-5-2, having not yet hit double figures for the season.
His contract expires in the summer of 2028, La Gazzetta dello Sport claims that Milan are unlikely to offer a renewal and this summer may be the final chance to maximise the player’s value on the transfer market given that he will be approaching the final year of his deal this time next season.
Monday’s report indicates that Loftus-Cheek is likely to follow Leao out of the San Siro exit this summer. He will be entering the final year of his Milan contract this summer, he has largely been a rotation option under Allegri this campaign and La Gazzetta dello Sport says that all signs point towards a return to England in the near future.
As for Pulisic, Milan have reportedly been attempting to wrap up a new contract, but the process seems to have stalled over the last few months. The American is said to be seeking a salary similar to the one that Leao earns, but La Gazzetta dello Sport hints that he is not massively convinced by the current project in San Siro.

His current deal expires in the summer of 2027, and La Gazzetta dello Sport writes that “something will have to happen” either way this summer, whether that be a renewal or a sale.
Tomori is also among the players approaching the final year of their Milan contracts. The England international seems destined to stay and La Gazzetta dello Sport claims the club and his agents are close to a definitive agreement over a new deal. His salary is likely to be bumped up from €3.5m per season to around €4m-a-year.
