United's midfield ace has been tipped for a potential departure this summer

Sheffield United's season can certainly be split into two parts, but it does feel as though the Blades have very little but pride to play for when the campaign resumes after its final international break.

Just a matter of weeks ago, United were seen as potential 'dark horses' when it came to making a late dash towards the Championship play-offs alongside fellow early-season strugglers, Norwich City.

Since the turn of March, though, they have gone four matches without a win, and their 2-1 collapse against Wrexham last time out saw Chris Wilder's men fall back down to 17th in the standings, with there now a 13-point difference between themselves and Southampton with only 21 more points to play for.

To his credit, Wilder has been able to steady what could have been a sinking ship at Bramall Lane at the time of his re-appointment in S2 in September after United lost all of Ruben Selles' six matches in all competitions and were rooted to the foot of the Championship table.

However, attention will now be firmly turned towards preparations for what is a pivotal off-season and pre-season if the Blades are to re-establish themselves as one of the front-runners in the division, which they were last term before a heartbreaking play-off final loss to Sunderland.

With that being said, as Premier League 'parachute payments' dry up, a handful of the club's biggest assets have been tipped to leave Bramall Lane in the summer, including 21-year-old midfield ace, Sydie Peck.

Peck has been one of the most consistent performers for United this season, scoring four times and producing a further three assists despite being deployed as a deep-lying midfield player under both Selles and Wilder.

After a fine breakthrough campaign last term, the London-born man was linked with a potential move to West Ham United last summer, which failed to materialise.

Given his continued upward trajectory, it is a big fear from many Unitedites, including Football League World's Blades fan pundit, Jimmy - from the Blades Ramble YouTube channel - that Peck could be sold, albeit for a rather hefty fee.

"A lot of Sheffield United fans are asking this question at the minute, because it's widely rumoured that he is the boy who will certainly be our prized asset in the summer," Jimmy told FLW.

"It's going to be a high ticket sale, and Blades are saying we want £20 million. Well, I think we have to be more realistic, and I genuinely think around £15 million plus any add-ons will do.

"I think Brentford at the moment are the most likely suitors, if I'm honest, just due to Keith Andrews' links to the club, and having worked with him closely previously," he claimed.

"There's a chance Nottingham Forest comes in, and maybe Tyler Bindon is part of that deal. That would be of interest to Sheffield United, I'm sure.

"But ideally, we want to keep Sydie. It's just very likely that he leaves because we will have to sell players, no longer having access to parachute payments," Jimmy added.

Naturally, if Peck was to move to a Premier League side, it would be expected that his wage earnings were to take somewhat of a hike regardless of promises over initial gametime.

According to Capology - a site which ESTIMATES player earnings - the Blades have the second-highest wage bill in the Championship at a weekly cost of £606,750.

Rather unsurprisingly, Manchester City loanee, Kalvin Phillips, is topping said payroll with a salary of £45,000 per week, which is far in excess of what Peck is believed to collect.

Based off these ESTIMATED figures, the England Under-21 international only earns more than Mihail Polendakov, Ollie Arblaster, Christian Nwachukwu and Djibril Soumare.

As such, his £3,000 per week salary equates to just £156,000 across the season, which many could believe is extremely low for a player of Peck's current ability and future potential.
