Which five Inter players publicly thanked Inzaghi after San Siro exit? | OneFootball

Only five Inter players sent public messages to former head coach Simone Inzaghi after the news of his departure was confirmed on Tuesday.

Inter confirmed that Inzaghi left his position as head coach via mutual agreement on Tuesday evening, four years to the day since he was originally appointed, and three days on from the 5-0 loss to Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League final.

The 49-year-old is expected to make an immediate return to management, as he is expected to lead Saudi Pro League side Al-Hilal into the upcoming FIFA Club World Cup, with his first game expected to fall against Real Madrid on June 18.

Five Inter players thank Inzaghi

Despite being at the helm for four years, only five members of Inter’s first-team squad sent public messages of gratitude to the recently-departed Nerazzurri head coach.

Marcus Thuram was the first of them, thanking Inzaghi with a message on his  latest Instagram post, which read: “A great Mister, an even greater man. Thank you for the trust, advice, the moments we’ve had together and all the emotions experienced in this amazing adventure.

“It was a pleasure and honour to play under your guidance. Good luck for all that is to come. Thank you, Mister.”

There were also messages via Instagram stories from Yann Bisseck: “Thank you for everything Mister,” and Hakan Calhanoglu, who wrote: “Thank you, Mister. You always believed in me – on and off the pitch. Wishing you success on your new journey. Grateful for everything.”

Benjamin Pavard also wrote: ‘It was an honour. Thank you for everything, Mister.”

There was also a heartfelt post from Federico Dimarco, which read: “Hey Simone, we’ve done quite a bit together, eh?!

“You’ve been like an older brother to me, a friend, a loyal man with whom I’ve shared four wonderful years and that star that will bind us together forever. Thank you for everything, Dimaaaaaaashhhhh.”

La Gazzetta dello Sport notes that it is likely Inzaghi said his farewells to the Inter players privately, and that he would have likely received private messages in response. Still, the Pink Paper adds that it is a bit of a surprise that there were not more public messages of gratitude from the Nerazzurri squad.
