Juventus are still targeting a deal for Federico Chiesa in the January transfer window, and recent reports suggest that they are beginning to come round to the idea of bringing the 28-year-old back on a permanent basis. Here’s a look at how the Bianconeri plan to finance the deal.

Juventus willing to bring Chiesa back on permanent basis

Juventus sold Chiesa to Liverpool for a fee in the region of €15m just 18 months ago. The former Fiorentina man had effectively been pushed out of the Bianconeri first-team with less than a year remaining on his contract at the time.

Due to high salary demands and a troubling injury record, an agreement over a new deal was not found and the Italian was allowed to move on in a cut-price deal.

Now, Juventus are keen to bring Chiesa back to Turin to bolster Luciano Spalletti’s attacking options. Liverpool, meanwhile, could be prepared to let Chiesa leave, but are said to only be interested in a permanent sale rather than a loan deal with an option to buy.

Reports this week claim that Juventus are now willing to offer Liverpool a loan deal with an obligation to buy. This is expected to cost Juve somewhere in the region of €15m between the loan fee and buy option.

In order for this to happen, however, Juventus will need to shuffle a few things around in their current first-team set-up.

Reports from Calciomercato.com claim that the Old Lady are hoping to offload Joao Mario this month. The Portuguese full-back reportedly has interest from Crystal Palace, and from a number of unspecified Portuguese sides.

Juve are also considering the possibility of sending Vasilije Adzic out on loan, which could potentially come with a loan fee that could then be put towards Chiesa.

There has also been interest in centre-back Federico Gatti this month, however, Monday’s reports indicate that the Italy international is keen to stay put at the Allianz Stadium.
