With these needs in mind, Chelsea should look at the Primeira Liga. The Portuguese top flight is a fertile ground for talent and may hold the solution to Chelsea’s problems.

Viktor Gyokeres – Sporting CP

An obvious solution to Chelsea’s finishing problems is Sporting CP hitman Viktor Gyokeres, who has attracted interest from Arsenal and Manchester United.

The Swedish sensation would give Chelsea another dimension in attack. He is the top marksman they are missing.

Gyokeres has been a revelation in the Portuguese league, bagging 43 goals and 15 assists to spearhead Sporting to the title last season.

He has recorded 52 goals and 12 assists this term. Gyokeres leads the way in the Primeira Liga scoring charts with 38 goals in 31 outings.

Chelsea star Nicolas Jackson can learn from the former Coventry City striker.

He is a solution to their woes and would be a steal if the club can get him at around €60-80 million.

Samu Aghehowa – FC Porto

Chelsea came close to signing Samu Aghehowa last summer. In hindsight, the Blues made a massive mistake opting for Joao Felix.

Aghehowa joined Porto and has delivered the goods in Portugal, netting 24 goals in 40 appearances. He is only behind Gyokeres in the race for top scorer with 18 league goals.

The 20-year-old is a powerful and instinctive finisher whose game could use refining. However, Aghehowa has the raw talent to explode at Stamford Bridge.

He brings different qualities to Jackson, and Chelsea might consider a deal if they can negotiate his €100m release clause.

Unfortunately, his relative inexperience might not help the club, but he is a big talent that might pique Chelsea’s interest.

Tomas Araujo – Benfica

Chelsea were reportedly close to signing Benfica centre-back Tomas Araujo last summer after his successful spell at Gil Vicente, but a deal never materialised.

Araujo has gone from playing second fiddle to becoming a crucial cog, winning 59 percent of his aerial and 59% of his ground duels in 26 league appearances this year.

The 22-year-old has helped Benfica keep seven clean sheets and established himself as one of the best ball-playing centre-backs in the league.

With Wesley Fofana struggling to stay fit, Chelsea might revisit a deal for the Portuguese defender, even though they already have too many centre-halves on their books.

Ousmane Diomande – Sporting CP

Ousmane Diomande is another player in the Chelsea rumour mill, and they could move for him this summer.

The Ivorian is a cultured defender who can become one of the best in the world in his position.

He is a meaty centre-back who has won 62% of his aerial and 58% of his ground duels while helping Sporting keep nine clean sheets.

Diomande is a fantastic ball-playing centre-back who can form a solid partnership with Levi Colwill at the back.

If the Blues want him, they will have to move fast, with Arsenal reportedly eyeing him as a potential replacement for William Saliba.
