Rumours surrounding the potential early resignation of Florentino Perez have dominated Spanish football headlines in the past 48 hour despite strong denials from journalists close to Real Madrid.

Who is Anas Laghrari?

Born in Casablanca in 1984, Laghrari grew up between Moroccan traditions and European educational environment. He later moved to France specialising in financial mathematics in Paris and began his career as an analyst at Credit Agricole (Calyon) before joining Societe Generale.

In 2011 he relocated to Madrid to help open new branch for the bank — move that reconnected him with Perez, a long standing family acquaintance. Their relationship quickly evolved from personal ties to strategic partnership.
