Ceri Holland earns 50th cap

Despite taking a while to get into the team, Ceri Holland has become a vital player in the Wales setup of late.

Holland left England to play in Kansas early in her career and she didn’t make her international debut until 2021.

After four years with the team Holland is now vice-captain of Wales and one of the first names on the teamsheet.

“It’s a really proud moment for me and my family.” She said before her 50th cap.

“My journey has been a bit different to a few of the girls who came through the pathway here, but I’ve enjoyed my journey. I wouldn’t change anything, and I look back over the last four-and-a-half years and reflect on the fact that I’ve probably accelerated through quite quickly, but it’s been a very positive time.”

The midfielder featured for Wales at Euro 2025 in their major tournament debut, but she almost missed out with an injury.

After a tough but rewarding year, Holland admitted that she still has a lot left in the tank.

“I’ve got a lot of things to improve and work on still, but I’ve got a lot more to give.”

Holland played well on her 50th international appearance as Wales ended their lengthy winless streak in a five goal thriller against Switzerland.

The 27-year-old was withdrawn on the hour mark with a slight knock but it has been reported to be nothing serious.

Holland will now return to Liverpool, who she signed a new contract with in summer, as the WSL side looks to avoid relegation after a difficult start to the campaign.

Ffion Morgan shares landmark appearance

It wasn’t just Holland picking up her 50th cap on Tuesday. West Ham’s Ffion Morgan shared the milestone appearance with her vice-captain.

Morgan made her international debut in 2017 and has been in and out of the squad ever since.

The midfielder is now a consistent starter for her country and she featured in every game at Euro 2025 in summer.

“I think it’s crazy that I’m reaching 50 caps. It’s been a fun journey, but it’s mad to think that I’m about to play for Wales for the 50th time.” Morgan said.

“It’s an honour and a privilege every time to play for my country, so to reach this milestone is still all a bit surreal. My parents are coming out here too, of course they would be, so it’s a special occasion.”

Morgan is also struggling this season with her WSL club, as West Ham look set to fight out a relegation battle with Holland’s Liverpool.
