As revealed earlier today by Football Italia expert Alfredo Pedullà, Parma have chosen veteran Spanish free agent Vicente Guaita as their new goalkeeper after Zion Suzuki’s serious injury.

Multiple sources are now agreeing with the initial report from Pedullà that the Ducali picked the 38-year-old to wear the gloves rather than wait for the January transfer window to open up.

It meant they had to go for free agents and there were a few alternatives that were looked at, but Guaita came out on top.

The Spaniard turns 39 in January and his contract with Celta Vigo expired on June 30.

A product of the Valencia youth academy, he also played for Huelva, Getafe and wore the Crystal Palace shirt from 2018 to 2023.

The goalkeeper returned to his homeland for Celta Vigo in September 2023 as a free agent and remained until the end of his two-year deal.

Now Parma have given him the opportunity to add Serie A to his career trajectory, where he can fill in for Japan international Suzuki.
