Mateo Mejía has joined Sevilla on a permanent basis from Manchester United. In the deal, United will retain a 25% sell-on clause for the player.
After spending just over four years at the Red Devils, Mejía has officially sealed his transfer to Sevilla. Alongside the sell-on clause, there is also a performance-based fee included in the deal.
The 20-year-old joined the United academy back in 2019 from his local club Real Zaragoza. Despite suffering numerous injury setbacks, the winger featured prominently in the Under-21s side.
Mejía’s development earned him a spot on the plane for United’s trip to the United States last summer, where he came off the bench in a friendly match against Wrexham. Furthermore, under Erik ten Hag the youngster trained with the first-team squad on a regular basis.
Mejía will now reunite with his former team-mate Hannibal, who recently joined the Spanish side on loan from Manchester United.
