Real Madrid legend Cristiano Ronaldo has on Thursday evening hit back at criticism on the part of former teammate Rafael van der Vaart in ruthless fashion.
This comes after the Portuguese was accused of being an ‘incredibly selfish’ individual.
Ronaldo and Van der Vaart shared a dressing room in Spain’s capital for a solitary year, during the 2009/10 season.
The term ultimately finished trophyless for Real, with the latter, evidently, having not derived great enjoyment from lining out alongside one of the game’s greatest-ever players.
Speaking during an appearance on talkSPORT this week, Van der Vaart provided an insight into his experience playing with Ronaldo, and did not hold back in his criticism of the Portuguese:
“Cristiano Ronaldo was incredibly selfish at Real Madrid. If we won 6-0 and he didn’t score, he wasn’t happy. But if we lost and he scored two, he was fine. Did he play just for himself? No, it was just his need to score goals.”
And such comments, as alluded to above, have since made their way onto the radar of Ronaldo himself…
After stumbling across his one-time attacking partner-in-crime’s quotes on Instagram this evening, the five-time Ballon d’Or winner responded simply with:
‘Who is that guy?’
