When Emerse Faé announced his squad list for the October camp, Yan Diomandé was among those called up. This marks his first appearance with the Elephants.

At just 18 years old, the Leipzig winger is set to make his debut for Ivory Coast. Born in Abidjan, he has been called up for two crucial qualifiers against Seychelles (October 10) and Kenya (October 14) as part of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.

After kicking off his career in the United States with Boys High School Soccer (2020-2022) and then DME Academy (2022-2024), he joined Leganes in 2025, where he played nine matches.

Spotted by Leipzig scouts, he moved to Germany this summer. With six matches and a goal to his name, Diomandé is already making a name for himself in German football.

Now, the question is whether Emerse Faé will grant him his first minutes on the pitch with the Elephants, who are set for two pivotal clashes in their quest to qualify for the 2026 World Cup.

Ivory Coast currently tops their group with 20 points but remains under threat from second-placed Gabon, who have 19 points.
