Verona and Pisa have been struggling in Serie A this season and are desperate for points in the race for survival, but five more teams will fight to avoid the drop in Italy’s top flight this term.
Having just combined three victories in the opening 22 games, it comes as no surprise to see Pisa and Verona as the Unibet sports betting favourites to be relegated to Serie B this term.
Verona have only won two matches so far, while Pisa, who were promoted to Serie A in 2024-25, have just one victory in the current Serie A campaign.

Although the Tuscans have signed several new players in the January window and Verona sold one of their best footballers, Giovane, to Napoli, their record in the league is quite similar. Not only have they conceded 37 goals each, only Torino have more with 40, but they are also winless in the new year. Verona have earned two points in their last five games, and Pisa have just one more in the same period.
They remain nine points below safety after 25 rounds, so Verona and Pisa remain the most likely Serie A teams to get relegated this season.
Fiorentina are surprisingly fighting to avoid the same fate, sitting in the relegation zone below Lecce, Torino, Parma, Cremonese and Genoa.
Bookmakers see Lecce as the third most-likely candidate to go to Serie B, as Eusebio Di Francesco’s side only have a three-point lead over 18th-placed Fiorentina.
The Viola have the seventh-highest wage bill in Serie A and have made many new acquisitions to strengthen the team for their new coach, Paolo Vanoli, who replaced Stefano Pioli in November.

Fiorentina won two of their last five league matches, moving just three points below safety. One of their last home games against direct rivals Cagliari, however, saw the Tuscans suffer a painful 2-1 loss.
“We still have to work out how to face this type of match. We cannot concede two goals like that and throw the game away. We were too slow and scared when making choices,” Vanoli said after the match.
“I am disappointed, it was an important fixture, it can be a valuable lesson, if we learn it.
“Since I arrived, I’ve told the lads they need to not kid themselves when there are some positive results, because we are still in a very bad situation. In terms of mentality, this can be a lesson, because it’s the head-to-head clashes with the teams in the bottom half where we lost points.
“In that sense, there’s still a long way for us to go.”
