If FIFA keep the Club World Cup entry list unchanged, South America would have six places. Flamengo are already in as the most recent Libertadores winners, with three further champions and two clubs from the ranking completing the allocation.
According to Coluna Do Fla, Flamengo sit second in the ranking behind Palmeiras. Below them are fellow 2025 Libertadores semi-finalists LDU, beaten by Palmeiras, and Racing, knocked out by Flamengo.
For 2029, the Libertadores winners from 2025 to 2028 and the top two in the ranking will qualify. Points will be awarded over the next three years, weighted by the round reached and overall match performance.
A high ranking alone does not ensure a berth because of country limits. If other Brazilian clubs win the Libertadores in the coming years and Palmeiras do not, Palmeiras could be squeezed out.
In 2025, Atlético-MG had the ranking to make it, but Brazilian spots were already taken by Flamengo, Palmeiras, Botafogo and Fluminense as Libertadores champions. Boca Juniors and River Plate therefore entered via FIFA’s table.
Beyond Flamengo, four more continental title holders are already assured for 2029, PSG, Pyramids, Cruz Azul and Al Ahli. Al Ahli won Asia last Saturday, 25, to book their place.
