FC Barcelona travels to Balaídos this weekend for a crucial La Liga fixture, their last match before the November international break.
Hansi Flick’s side will be looking to secure three points and maintain their title charge, but they first must get past a Celta Vigo team and, more specifically, a player who has become the club’s eternal bogeyman.
Year after year, the Celta captain has proven to be the Catalan team’s major weak point.
The former Liverpool striker’s record against Barcelona is indeed simply stunning, having scored 11 goals in 21 league matches, a statistic that doesn’t even fully capture his numerous standout performances and decisive moments that have cost Barça dearly at Balaidos.
While the 38-year-old veteran is in a different phase of his career this season, his threat level has not diminished.

Aspas is playing a different role for Celta, alternating between starting and coming off the bench to maintain his physical fitness for key moments.
Even Celta Vigo coach Claudio Giraldez highlighted Iago Aspas’ record against Barcelona in the pre-match presser.
“Borja, Aspas, and Bryan score a lot against Barcelona; I hope they do it again tomorrow because that will bring us closer to victory,” he noted.
The Barcelona defence this season has proven to be very susceptible against predatory forwards, who can utilise spaces in between the channels.
Iago Aspas, to that end, could be a major threat to the Blaugrana, whose poor defensive record this season has already cost them numerous points.
In addition to Aspas, Barcelona must also need to be mindful of other Celta Vigo attackers, as correctly pointed out by Giraldez.
