Chelsea and Bayern are playing out an exciting game at the Allianz Arena, but Pat Nevin, working for the BBC, has noticed something interesting.

Bayern fans target Chelsea player for something that happened last summer

It’s all to do with Chelsea’s left back, Marc Cucurella.

“Bayern players time and again are trying to take the ball around Cucurella so they can get a very special round of applause from their fans here,” Nevin noted.

If you were wondering why the fans at the Allianz Arena hate Cucurella, it all stems back to last summer’s Euros. Cucurella got away with a handball while playing for Spain against Germany.

We’re not sure why they blame the defender rather than the ref – but that’s football for you.

Cucurella is just one of those players who is a magnet for aggression from other players and supporters – whne he’s on the wind up (which he often is) it’s deserved, but in this case it feels harsh.

Olise continues to show just how world class he is

Nevin noticed something else during the game – the twinkle toes of Michael Olise, who just

“Olise is an utter joy to watch. Everything is done at a calm pace. He is completely in control, not just of the ball but of everything around him,” Nevin added.

“He’s not even needing to take Cucurella on, he’s just pulling the Chelsea defence apart.”

Honestly, he’s so good that you forget that Jamal Musiala is out injured. And that’s saying something

It’s one of the most painful “what ifs” of the last few years that Chelsea came so close to signing Olise but ended up without him.

Then again, if we had bought Olise, maybe we wouldn’t have signed Cole Palmer? That’s how we like to look at it, anyway.
