Further details have emerged after Venky's invested £4.85m into Blackburn Rovers back in the summer.
Venky’s investment in Blackburn relates to the £4.85m they sent earlier this year, as opposed to fresh funds going into the Championship club.
Rovers fans have been protesting against their owners for years now, as they look for change at the top of the club, with many feeling Venky’s no longer have a serious interest in helping the team.
However, they remain in place, and there was a development today as a £4.85m investment was made formal by Companies House.
Naturally, that had fans talking, as it would be a big investment from Venky’s given the way Blackburn have been run in recent years.
Yet, the Lancashire Telegraph has provided clarity on the situation, as they confirmed this update relates to an investment that was made back in June.
They add that this was a ‘standard request’ during the off-season as the funds were required to keep up with payments over the summer months, and the money also wasn’t linked to any transfer deals, more the day-to-day costs and salaries that needed to be covered.
It’s also reported that this investment has been returned with the ‘allotment of shares, rather than debt’.
That money came with a 50% personal guarantee, although the restrictions that had been placed on Venky’s, but that restriction has now been lifted.
We know the financial restraints that Blackburn are under due to Venky’s, and that’s why they’re struggling towards the bottom of the table.
Valerian Ismael had to work with a limited budget in the summer, and the reality is that many Championship rivals have bigger resources at their disposal.
Of course, that doesn’t mean he can be excluded from blame, and the recruitment would be questioned in general, so it’s not like Blackburn’s position is entirely down to Venky’s, but it’s a key factor.
So, it would be great for Blackburn if there was a change in ownership, but we know how complicated and difficult that can be.
In the meantime, the focus has to be on the pitch, but things don’t get any easier for Ismael and the team, as they are back in action against league leaders Coventry City when they return from the international break, with Frank Lampard’s side having yet to taste defeat in the league after nine games, so it will be a huge test for Rovers.
