After more than three weeks of post-elimination quiet in Coapa, André Jardine left Club América by mutual agreement following meetings between the board and his staff. The announcement arrived today, just five days before the squad are due to report back.
According to TUDN, commentator Andrés Vaca suggested the exit was driven by disagreements over summer ins and outs.
The Brazilian coach wanted several signings and to move on some players, but the hierarchy disagreed, viewing those unnamed players as unable to leave.
Concerned about facing another season with a short squad and without the additions needed to compete for the trophy, Jardine and his staff opted to step aside.
It was also suggested that he hopes to return to América in future, so believed stepping aside was the best choice amid the stand-off.
