When that happens, Juventus would be able to sign him without paying a transfer fee. His experience in Italy and understanding of Serie A could also make the move straightforward from a sporting perspective.

However, a move to Juventus may not be as straightforward as the club would hope, as the midfielder reportedly does not want to remain in Italy when he becomes a free agent at the end of the season.

Tuttomercatoweb claims that Calhanoglu wants to move to Turkiye at the end of this season. If that is his decision, Juventus would face a difficult task in trying to convince him to remain in Serie A.

The midfielder has spent a significant period of his career in Italian football, but his reported desire to leave the country could prevent Juventus from finally securing his signature.

Juventus face competition for Calhanoglu

According to the report, Calhanoglu believes he has had enough of Italian football and wants to experience what it feels like to play for a Turkish football club.

That would be a major obstacle for Juventus, who have been interested in the midfielder for much of his career. Their ability to sign him as a free agent would only matter if he were willing to remain in Italy.

For now, Calhanoglu’s reported preference is to return to Turkiye, which could leave Juventus needing to look elsewhere for midfield reinforcements. Unless his plans change before the end of the season, the Bianconeri may struggle to turn their long-standing interest into a completed transfer.
