Hummels had looked a little shaky during the warm-up at the Stadio Sinigaglia and seemed to be sweating profusely.

He interrupted the exercises and went into the locker room with medical staff early, leaving his teammates on the pitch.

According to Sky Sport Italia, the German international veteran was suffering from flu symptoms and feeling feverish, so it was decided to rest him in favour of Mario Hermoso.

Leandro Paredes also contracted the flu and is not even in the squad for this trip to Como.
