Why Man City could beat Arsenal to signing Champions League winner

Willian Pacho is one of the best defenders in the world at the moment after shining in PSG’s back-to-back Champions League triumphs, with the Ecuadorian defender consistently standing out for neutralising the best attackers the Parisians face.

At 24, he has built a terrific reputation in the game, and Arsenal want to add him to their squad at the next opportunity they get to sign players in the market.

The Gunners already have a superb defence, and the addition of Ezri Konsa to their backline in the last transfer window has made it even more difficult for teams to score against them.

This is one of the reasons many people believe Arsenal will be champions of England again. Despite their defensive strength, they still want to sign Pacho, although they face competition from Manchester City.

Arsenal face competition for Pacho

The Citizens consider Pacho one of the top talents on the market who they could add to their squad. His performances have made him an attractive option for clubs looking to strengthen their defence, with Arsenal and Manchester City both reportedly interested in securing his signature.

Arsenal would see Pacho as another quality addition to an already strong defensive unit. However, convincing him to move to the Emirates could prove difficult if City are prepared to offer better financial terms.

The competition between the two clubs could therefore become an important factor in determining where the Ecuadorian defender plays next, particularly if both sides make formal approaches for his services.

Manchester City in the driving seat

Football365 says City are likely to win the race because they are always happy to offer huge contracts to players.

Arsenal do not operate in the same way, and Pacho is unlikely to earn more than he currently makes at PSG if he chooses to move to the Emirates. That is why City are in the driving seat among the clubs interested in him now.

Arsenal will therefore need to find a way to convince Pacho that a move to the Emirates is the right choice despite the financial advantage Manchester City could offer.

The Gunners may have a strong defensive unit already, but their interest in Pacho shows they remain keen to strengthen further. For now, however, City appear to have the advantage in the race for his signature.
