Andree Jeglertz says his Manchester City side have been training hard this week – despite already securing the Women’s Super League title.

And their dedication paid off as they came back from two goals down against Women’s FA Cup holders Chelsea to win 3-2 and reach the final at Wembley later this month.

“If you saw the training sessions on Friday or Saturday, you’d see there was no lack of energy in this group,” he said to the club’s official website.

“It’s a group of winners that want to do more.

“Having this tough game directly after [securing the title on Wednesday evening] was the best thing that could happen, where we can show we are a great team and we aren’t just satisfied with one title, we want the next one.”

Late goals from Mary Fowler and Bunny Shaw in the space of six minutes forced extra time, with the Jamaican international then grabbing the winner.

And the head coach was as impressed as ever with his team’s attitude, despite making some changes from the side who beat Liverpool in additional time last weekend.

“I said to the players after that it’s a tough game and Chelsea are good, but there’s something in the group where we never give up. I’ve said it a lot of times, but this is good proof of that.

“You can see it in the eyes of the players that they know we still have an opportunity to do this.

“We did some changes, players coming in with new energy, we did some tactical changes but overall, the players’ mentality to never give up is why we’re here.”

Manchester City will play Brighton in the final, who beat Liverpool earlier on Sunday in similar circumstances – recovering from two down to win 3-2, but not needing extra time to complete the job.
