Why Milan’s win over Cremonese could be huge in the Serie A season | OneFootball

Somehow, Milan managed to go past Cremonese in the Serie A, thanks to late goals from Rafael Leao and Strahinja Pavlovic. The triumph helps Milan return to winning ways after a frustrating defeat to Parma. More than that, it can prove key in the title race.

The gap between Milan and Inter now stands at ten points. While that is definitely quite a bit of distance, today could’ve made it a lot worse. 

The two sides play each other in a huge derby next weekend. If Milan win, the gap goes down to seven points and it would still appear quite attainable. And that isn’t just simple belief in the possibility but because Inter have quite a difficult run of games coming up.

After Milan, they take on Atalanta. Even before they play Milan, they play Como in the second leg of the Coppa Italia semi-final. The next few weeks will see them lock horns with Roma, Fiorentina and Como in the league.

That will be a defining point of the campaign and if Milan put a chink in their armour next week and reduce the gap to seven, there will be nerves in the Nerazzurri camp.

If not for today’s win, the last would have looked quite impossible for Milan. Now, they have hope.
