Ryan Gravenberch has been a standout performer since Arne Slot took charge at Anfield.

The Dutchman played a vital role in Liverpool’s Premier League title win last season and has remained a regular starter in a slightly adjusted role this campaign.

As such, the 23-year-old has been rewarded with a new 6-year deal with the Reds, a move that will put an end to any transfer speculation surrounding him.

Gravenberch’s future is secure but his new deal may mark the end of a teammate's time in Merseyside, with fresh reports throwing his future at the club into doubt as other teams watch on.

Is Alexis Mac Allister going to leave Liverpool?

Partly owing to the Reds’ success last season, and partly due to their disappointing results this campaign, there has been plenty of speculation surrounding almost every Liverpool player’s future.

Alexis Mac Allister is no exception to that, with the rumours culminating in a claim that the Argentine midfielder could be off to Manchester United during the winter window.

The Red Devils interest in the 27-year-old seems to have cooled, with Fabrizio Romano confirming recently that there are no concrete talks between the two, but the former Brighton man’s future is still uncertain.

Mac Allister himself confirmed that there are no ongoing contract talks at the moment, although his current deal does run until 2028 so there is no rush, but now a sensational report from Spain has suggested that the midfielder is ready to call it quits in Merseyside.

According to Fichajes, Mac Allister has officially requested a transfer and feels that his time with Liverpool has come to an end.

The report names Real Madrid and PSG as two of the interested parties and claims that Mac Allister feels the time is right to move to a league with a “less dizzying pace of play”.

The Spanish outlet’s claims have not been backed up by any English media, throwing doubt over the validity of Mac Allister’s official transfer request, but the door certainly seems open for an exit.

Liverpool have already paid Gravenberch, and are locked in talks to secure a new deal for Dominik Szoboszlai. It feels unlikely that they will be willing to offer big pay days to all three midfielders.

Then there is also Curtis Jones to consider, who is heading into the final 12 months of his deal.

There is still time to resolve Mac Allister’s situation at Anfield, but it feels as though Gravenberch’s new deal may have taken the Argentine a step closer to an exit.
