Vitor Roque travelled with Palmeiras to Salvador and Cartagena but missed the games against Bahia and Junior Barranquilla. He has been sidelined for nearly three weeks as the club take a cautious approach after his Paulista semi-final injury.

According to Globo.com, there is no public return date and he is in an intermediate recovery phase, following protocol. He sustained a traumatic ligament injury to his left ankle after a blow on one March against São Paulo.

He played through the finals with Novorizontino, starting the second leg and scoring in a 2-1 win. Cameos followed in Brasileirão wins over Botafogo and São Paulo on 18 and 21 March, before Palmeiras withdrew him due to ongoing discomfort.

During the FIFA window he worked indoors with the health and performance unit, then travelled to continue treatment and ease his reintroduction to the pitch. On Tuesday he trained separately, and on Wednesday warmed up with the group at Estadio Olímpico Jaime Morón León despite not being named.

For Roque and Paulinho that routine served as a conditioning session. Roque joined passing drills as part of his reconditioning.

Palmeiras now have three days to prepare for Sunday’s derby with Corinthians. His progress in the next sessions will determine whether he can at least make the squad, while Paulinho, out since July, has progressed, completed full training on the eve of the Junior match and remains on a cautious schedule as he nears clearance.
