"Why would he leave Bayern?" – Steven Gerrard on Olise Liverpool links | OneFootball

After reports suggested that Liverpool were willing to pay up to €200 million for Michael Olise, Bayern Munich moved quickly to make it clear that their French star is not for sale.

But even if he were available, Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard doubts Olise would be interested in a move to Anfield.

“The problem is, why would he leave Bayern Munich? A big club, they are challenging for the big honours, probably the strongest Bayern Munich team we have seen for a while,” Gerrard said on TNT Sports.

“He is about to take the World Cup by storm come the summer. He looks like a really happy kid, settled. I don't think he is going anywhere. But yes, I would love him at Liverpool.”

The 45-year-old also said he would be happy to welcome Luis Díaz back to Liverpool after the Colombian international was sold to Bayern last summer.

“I wouldn't mind Díaz back as well. We miss him,” Gerrard admitted.

Both players have been in stunning form this season. Olise has scored 16 goals and provided 29 assists in 41 games, while Díaz has 23 goals and 18 assists in 40 matches.
