Polish fifth-tier club Wieczysta Kraków are close to another shock signing, with French free agent Thibault Moulin reportedly close to joining the club.
Numerous media reports say that the 32-year-old former Legia Warsaw midfielder is expected to become the Kraków club’s third high-profile transfer of the window, having already completed the signings of ex-Wisła Krakow pair Maciej Jankowski and Haitian International Wilde-Donald Guerrier.
Former Ekstraklasa champion Moulin would join the club having been released from his contract with Romanian club Academics Clinceni, where his wages had not been paid. This would not be a problem for Wieczysta, who are bankrolled by millionaire pharmacy owner Wojciech Kwiecień, and can already count upon former Polish international midfielders Sławomir Peszko (ex-Wolverhampton Wanderers, 1.FC Koln) and Radosław Majewski (ex-Nottingham Forest, Lech Poznań) amongst their ranks. They can also boast a former international coach: Franciszek Smuda, who led the Polish team into Euro 2012.
The acquisition of a player of Moulin’s calibre – with Champions League experience, having played against Borussia Dortmund, Real Madrid and Sprotung Lisbon during Legia’s appearance in the 2017/17 competition – would be another step towards Kwiecien’s aim for Wieczysta to surpass Garbarnia, Hutnik and Cracovia II to become Krakow’s third team.
Wieczysta currenty sit top of the IV Liga’s Małopolska East Group, unbeaten from their 17 games, and 11 points ahead of their nearest challengers.
