In a transfer twist that underscores his immediate value, Beşiktaş have firmly shut the door on a surprising early approach for their new midfield anchor, Wilfred Ndidi. The Turkish giants have reportedly rejected an inquiry from Dutch powerhouse Ajax Amsterdam for the Nigerian international, just weeks after securing his signature.
According to trusted transfer specialist Ben Jacobs, Ajax's interest in the Super Eagles captain was met with a definitive 'no' from the Istanbul club. Beşiktaş had initially set a steep price to even consider a departure, proposing a structure involving a €2 million loan fee followed by a €12 million obligation to buy the 29-year-old. These terms, however, did not lead to a deal, with Beşiktaş showing no inclination to negotiate the departure of a player they have swiftly integrated as a core leader.
Ndidi's rapid ascent within the club hierarchy highlights why they were so resistant. Mere days after his arrival, the defensive midfielder was bestowed with the vice-captaincy, a clear signal of the trust and importance placed upon him. Currently, Ndidi is on the path to recovery from an injury suffered during the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, but his absence from the pitch has not diminished his standing as a foundational piece for Beşiktaş's future—a future they have made clear does not involve a swift sale to Ajax.
