The final home game of the season for Barcelona turned into an unforgettable emotional occasion as Robert Lewandowski officially said goodbye to the supporters after four memorable years at the club.

Throughout the evening, emotions were visible on Lewandowski’s face. The veteran forward looked overwhelmed as thousands of fans inside the stadium chanted his name loudly during the match.

Great gesture by Flick

Manager Hansi Flick also appeared determined to give the striker a special goodbye.

In the closing stages of the game, the German coach substituted Lewandowski so the entire stadium could rise to applaud him one final time and that moment increased the emotion inside Camp Nou.

After the match, Lewandowski slowly walked towards the centre of the pitch, visibly emotional as another standing ovation arrived from every corner of the stadium.

His teammates then gathered around him and lifted him into the air while supporters continued applauding and chanting his name.

Lewandowski’s speech

Eventually, the striker took the microphone to address the fans in what became one of the most emotional moments of Barcelona’s season.

“For me, this is a very emotional and difficult day. When I arrived in Barcelona, I knew this club was a great one, but your support has been incredible.

“From the very first moment, I’ve felt at home. I’ll never forget when you chanted my name.”

The Polish striker also took time to thank everyone who had been part of his journey at the club.

“Thanks to my teammates, coaches and club staff. It’s been an honour to play for Barça

“We’ve shared some great moments over these four years. I’m very proud of everything we’ve achieved.”

His final words to the fans perfectly reflected the kind of relationship he has established with his teammates and the fans.

Closing his speech, Lewandowski stated, “Today I bid farewell to the stadium, but I’ll always carry Barça in my heart. Visca el Barça and Visca Catalunya.”
