Noel Aseko has left FC Bayern for good and is joining Eintracht Frankfurt. The 20-year-old is apparently highly valued by the Frankfurt-based club—and expectations are sky-high.

With Noel Aseko’s departure, FC Bayern is losing one of the most promising talents from its own youth academy. Now that both clubs have agreed to a transfer, the midfielder will play for Eintracht Frankfurt going forward. According to information from Sky, the Hessian club is paying twelve million euros to the German record champions.

New statements from Sky reporter Kerry Hau now reveal just how highly Eintracht rates the U-national team player internally. According to Hau, Aseko had been the top target of sporting director Markus Krösche for months.

“Aseko is the top target and dream signing for Frankfurt’s sporting director Markus Krösche. Krösche has been working hard on this since March,” Hau explained.

Frankfurt believes Aseko is capable of making a major breakthrough

The decision-makers at Eintracht apparently see the 20-year-old as much more than just a reinforcement for the depth of the roster. According to Hau, the Hessian club is convinced that Aseko can develop into a true top player in the coming years.

“Aseko’s transfer fee is a fixed 12 million euros. The Frankfurt club is convinced that he can develop and increase his market value in the coming years—tripling or even quadrupling it. In other words, he can follow a similar trajectory to, for example, Omar Marmous, Randal Kolo Muani, or Hugo Ekitiké.”

These comparisons make the expectations for the midfielder clear. In recent years, Frankfurt has built an excellent reputation as a talent incubator and has repeatedly sold players on for extremely high profits. Aseko is now expected to follow exactly this path.

For FC Bayern, the transfer could still prove risky in the long run. Although Munich will receive a transfer fee of twelve million euros, according to information from Sky, no buyback option was agreed upon. Should Aseko indeed make the hoped-for leap in development in Frankfurt, Bayern would have no contractually guaranteed option to bring the midfielder back on favorable terms.

Internally, Aseko was certainly regarded as an interesting player. Head coach Vincent Kompany is said to have been open to working with him. Ultimately, however, the club’s management decided to sell him—now it’s up to the 20-year-old to take the next step in his career in Frankfurt.
