Algerian midfielder pushes for January exit

Will Himad Abdelli join Marseille before the window shuts? Angers give fresh hint
Angers have hinted that Algerian midfielder Himad Abdelli could join Marseille before the winter window closes on 2 February.
French club Angers have offered new sign of hope to Algeria international Himad Abdelli as talks continue over possible move to Olympique Marseille before the winter transfer deadline on 2 February.
The 26 year-old midfielder has been pushing for exit in recent weeks hoping to take step forward in his career with stronger club.
While Marseille have already reached full agreement with the player, Angers have not yet given their final approval.
Abdelli has recently been training with Angers’ reserve team in what the club described as administrative decision.
However many observers believe it was form of psychological pressure as negotiations became more tense.
Angers officials denied that the move was disciplinary punishment but the situation shows how difficult the relationship has become between the player & the club as Abdelli insists on leaving this month.
Angers sporting director Laurent Boissier addressed the situation during appearance on RMC’s “After Foot” program.
He confirmed that there is no agreement yet but insisted discussions are still ongoing.
He explained that the deal is not completely blocked and that both sides simply need to settle some remaining details before any transfer can be completed.
Several French reports claim the main issue is financial. Marseille have made offer close to €2 million while Angers are asking for extra €500,000.
Angers previously demanded around €4 million but lowered their request in recent days.
Despite that reduction, the final gap has not been resolved, with both clubs holding firm for now.
Sources expect further movement in the coming hours as the deadline approaches and Abdelli continues to push for transfer.
Boissier also denied rumors that Abdelli refused to play in Angers’ match against Paris FC on 25 January.
Instead he said the player admitted he was not mentally and physically ready.
The sporting director added that his responsibility was to protect both the coach & the club explaining that player who does not feel fit to perform cannot remain in the first-team group.
Abdelli also excused from training recently due to family obligation while teammate Sidiki Chérif missed the session through injury.
