Newcastle United will face off against Barcelona at the Nou Camp this Wednesday evening as they look to secure a victory in the second leg of their UEFA Champions League last-16 tie. The Magpies managed to earn a narrow 1-0 win over Chelsea recently, which should keep them in good spirits going into this game.

Eddie Howe will set his players up in a 4-2-3-1 formation and is expected to keep changes to a minimum for this game. Hence, Anthony Gordon will once again lead the line for the Tyneside club up top.

4-2-3-1 Newcastle United Predicted Lineup To Face Barcelona

Defence

Aaron Ramsdale will play in goal for the Magpies after he kept a clean sheet in his last outing. Malick Thiaw will operate alongside Sven Botman at the heart of the Newcastle backline as they focus on keeping the opposition attackers frustrated throughout the 90 minutes.

Tino Livramento will try to prove his worth as the right-back, while Lewis Hall looks to prove his worth on the other side as the left-back. Both of them will have to perform their defensive duties well before trying to offer some support to their teammates up top.

Dan Burn will offer cover for the defensive positions on the bench.

Midfield

Jacob Ramsey and Joe Willock will anchor the midfield for the Magpies as they look to make life tough for the opposition at the centre of the park.

The gifted trio of Harvey Barnes, Nick Woltemade and Jacob Murphy will operate just ahead of them as part of Howe’s attack. All three of them need to move the ball well if they want to engineer some decent chances on the counter.

Joelinton and Anthony Elanga will have to be content with a spot on the bench as they await their chance to shine in the second 45 minutes if required.

Attack

Anthony Gordon will spearhead Newcastle‘s attack up top. He has to figure out a way to put his pace to good use and be a constant menace on the offensive end of the field.

Yoane Wissa will be named on the bench and might come on to influence the game in the final quarter if the Magpies are in need of a goal by then.
