Lionel Messi, currently playing for Inter Miami, is once again being linked with a move back to Europe. After leaving PSG in 2023, he chose to continue his career in MLS and extended his contract until 2028.

But despite this contract, rumors are circulating about a possible return as early as this winter. English media report that Manchester City, managed by Pep Guardiola, would like to bring Messi in for a short stint. At 38, the Argentine is still in top form: he has scored 35 goals and provided 21 assists in 33 MLS matches in 2025.
