Sacha Boey is facing an uncertain future at Bayern Munich

The 25-year-old right-back failed to get a minute in the 2-2 draw against Mainz 05, raising doubts over his long-term future at the club.

Boey has made five starts in the Bundesliga, and a further four appearances have come from the bench. However, his last start came in Bayern’s 3-0 win over Borussia Monchengladbach, back in October.

Is Sacha Boey off to Crystal Palace?

Boey joined Bayern from Galatasaray in January 2024 for a fee of around €30m.

The 25-year-old right-back made only 20 appearances last season, with injuries hampering his involvement.

Christian Falk told CFBayern last month that Bayern could look to offload Boey.

The full-back has been heavily linked with a move to Crystal Palace, but it will not be easy to prise him away from the German club.

“He costs a lot of money and he’s not playing very much at the moment. Sacha Boey had a brief period where he was enjoying minutes. He cost €30m [£26.2m] when FC Bayern bought him from Galatasaray, and of course, Bayern wants a bit of money back.

“This is the problem. €10m-15m would be the price, but Crystal Palace aren’t prepared to pay this in the winter. So, it could be that this deal will collapse. Nonetheless, there are talks between the clubs.

“The head coach, Oliver Glasner, and the sporting director of Bayern, Christoph Freund, are very close, both Austrian, both having done their schooling at the RB empire. Both worked at Salzburg. They are talking. It remains to be seen if it will all work out. Also because Vincent Kompany wants to keep every player he can.”

Bayern Munich have defensive covers

Vincent Kompany now has loads of options following the return of Alphonso Davies and Hiroki Ito from long-term injuries.

While Davies will be used properly, Kompany can now rely on Tom Bischof in the left-back role.

That means he does not have to use either Josip Stanisic or Konrad Laimer on the left. Both Stanisic and Laimer are a class apart when used at right-backs, which means Boey may struggle to get regular games going forward.

If Crystal Palace or another club can submit a strong offer, Bayern are more likely to consider it and allow him to move on.
