Liverpool will entertain Manchester City at Anfield this Sunday as they look to secure all three points at home in the Premier League. The Reds managed to secure a dominant 4-1 win over Newcastle United recently, so they would be full of confidence ahead of this game versus Pep Guardiola’s men.

Arne Slot will opt for the 4-2-3-1 formation and is expected to keep changes to a minimum for this game. Hence, Hugo Ekitike will once again spearhead Liverpool‘s attack up top.

Defence

Alisson Becker will feature in between the sticks for the Merseyside giants after he conceded one goal in his last league outing. Ibrahima Konate will operate alongside Virgil Van Dijk at the centre of the Liverpool backline as they focus on keeping the opposition at bay during the 90 minutes.

Dominik Szoboszlai will once again fill in as a makeshift right-back, while Milos Kerkez looks to prove his value on the other flank as the left-back. Both of them will have to perform their defensive duties well before they try to offer some support to their teammates in the final third.

Andy Robertson will provide cover for the defensive positions on the bench.

Midfield

Alexis Mac Allister will anchor the midfield along with Ryan Gravenberch as they focus on making life tough for the opposition at the centre of the park and creating some decent chances going forward.

The gifted trio of Cody Gakpo, Florian Wirtz and Mohamed Salah will function just ahead of them as part of Slot’s attack. All three of them need to be at their best if the Reds are to come out on top at Anfield this weekend.

Wataru Endo, Curtis Jones and Rio Ngumoha will be available for selection on the bench as they await their chance to shine in the second half if required.

Attack

Hugo Ekitike will lead the charge for the Merseyside outfit in the final third. He scored a brace against Newcastle recently, which should keep him in good spirits going into this game.

Federico Chiesa will be named on the bench and might come on to influence the game in the final quarter if the Reds are in need of a goal by then.
