William hits form for Porto, scores and sets up Bednarek | OneFootball

William Gomes has caught fire for Porto, producing two goals and two assists across their last three matches, capped by a decisive display against Moreirense on Friday.

According to O Jogo, the winger resisted summer interest, largely from English clubs, with no formal offers arriving, and now heads into a season that could be his full breakthrough, with Champions League football ahead.

He eased through the first three outings, then imposed himself against Arouca, Académico de Viseu and Moreirense.

On Friday he was man of the match, pivotal in securing three points with a goal and an assist, a double contribution he had previously managed only once for Porto, last season against Arouca.

Against Moreirense, André Ferreira beat away one of his signature curlers after a diagonal run inside. Moments later William delivered a pinpoint free-kick for Bednarek to equalise, then struck in the second half to complete the comeback.

His two assists so far, the other coming against Arouca, already equal last season’s total, achieved inside his first six appearances of this campaign.
