According to LaNumer12.com.ar, Atlanta United have made a formal approach for Williams Alarcón, proposing a loan with no fee and an option to buy, a move that could give Boca’s board fresh flexibility.
The proposal poses an economic dilemma for Boca, who paid around five million dollars in early 2025 to acquire the midfielder’s rights from Huracán.
Across 34 official appearances in blue and gold, Alarcón produced occasional flashes but long spells of inconsistency left him down the pecking order.
That irregular form, combined with frequent coaching changes, prevented him from establishing himself, and with minutes not guaranteed the Major League Soccer route appears a workable exit for all parties.
The move fits Rodolfo Arruabarrena’s ongoing overhaul, which has seen Marcelo Weigandt and Juan Barinaga frozen out, Agustín Martegani and Lucas Janson sent on loan, Marcelo Saracchi sold, and the contracts of Ander Herrera, Edinson Cavani and Nicolás Orsini terminated.
Although the Argentine transfer window has closed, Boca can still add under a provision already used to bring in Enner Valencia. If they complete an outgoing sale abroad, they will gain another extension to sign a replacement until 2 September.
