Wilson Odobert opened up about his Champions League dream ahead of Tottenham’s fixture against his boyhood club, Paris St. Germain.
The Frenchman came through PSG’s academy before being leaving their under 19’s side to join Troyes in 2022. The 20-year-old has since played for Burnley in the Premier League, before joining Spurs.
He is now readying himself to face the team he left as a teenager in Europe’s premier competition, and was asked whether he remembers being a ball boy at the Parc de Princes in the Champions League.
“I remember we were holding the big UEFA flag,” Odobert said. “Now it’s so great to be able to be back as a player.
“It was just a dream. I now have objectives and goals. I’m not a kid anymore. I want to perform and I really want to give as much as I can for my team.”
Despite Odobert realising his dream of playing Champions League football, he has had setbacks in the past. He missed most of last season with a hamstring injury that required surgery.
“I’ve also been injured, unfortunately, he said. “I’ve been working very hard to get back to my level.
“I’m still young and I still have space for improvement, of course. I don’t set any limits for myself. I do have objectives and goals and I will always give 100% of what I can.”
One player that Odobert played with in his time at PSG was Xavi Simons. The Dutchman joined the winger at Tottenham this summer.
Odobert was asked about whether he has a connection with the midfielder: “Yes, for sure,” he answered.
“We definitely have a natural connection. It is the same with the other players, though. I’m trying to connect with everyone, but for sure with Xavi, I know him very well. It’s really natural to play together.”
