Tottenham winger Wilson Odobert (21) will undergo surgery after rupturing the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee, compounding a punishing period for the north London club, BBC Sport has reported.
The 21-year-old sustained the injury during the first half of Tuesday’s 2-1 home defeat by Newcastle United. Spurs confirmed Odobert will consult a specialist next week before beginning surgery and an extensive rehabilitation programme under the supervision of the club’s medical staff.
It is a significant setback for the Frenchman, who has featured prominently this season following his £25m move from Burnley in 2024. Odobert has made 33 appearances in all competitions, starting 10 Premier League matches and six Champions League group-stage fixtures, underlining his growing importance within the squad.
His absence deepens an already severe injury crisis. Forwards Mohammed Kudus and Richarlison, midfielders Rodrigo Bentancur and Lucas Bergvall, and defender Ben Davies have all been sidelined in recent weeks. Playmaker James Maddison has not featured since suffering his own ACL rupture in August.
The news arrives amid managerial upheaval, with Spurs having dismissed Thomas Frank on Wednesday. Sitting 16th in the Premier League and just five points above the relegation zone, Tottenham must now navigate a testing run-in without one of their brightest attacking options.
