Ebiowei no stranger to the Football League

This would of course, be far from the first time that Ebiowei has gained experience of playing in the Football League.

After spells at youth level with Chelsea, Arsenal and Rangers, Ebiowei would join Derby County in 2021, and went on to make 16 first-team appearances in all competitions for the club, scoring once.

However, he would leave Pride Park in the summer of 2022, following the Rams' relegation from the Championship to League One amid a raft of financial issues.

That move saw Ebiowei join Crystal Palace on a free transfer, following the expiration of his contract with Derby.

But having made just five appearances in all competitions for the Premier League club during the first half of the 2022/23 campaign, the winger spent the second half of last season on loan in the Championship, with Hull City.

Ebiowei made a total of 12 appearances for the Tigers as they claimed a 15th place finish in the Championship, although he was unable to score or provide an assist in his time with the club.

Now it seems as though the 20-year-old could once again be on the move, during the current transfer window.

Having returned to Crystal Palace in the summer following that loan stint with Hull, Ebiowei is yet to make a single first-team appearance for Roy Hodgson's side during the current campaign.

As a result, this latest update has now claimed that Ebiowei has agreed to go out on loan during the January transfer window.

It is thought that both Palace and the player himself, are keen to get more first-team football under his belt, between now and the end of the campaign.

The 20-year-old may not be short on suitors either, with it being reported last year that Championship clubs Blackburn Rovers, QPR and Swansea City were are also interested in the winger, before he completed his loan move to Hull.

As things stand there are still three-and-a-half years remaining on Ebiowei's contract with Crystal Palace, securing his future at Selhurst Park until the end of the 2026/27 season.

Ebiowei could be a useful signing for EFL clubs

It does feel as though Ebiowei could be a good signing to make for some clubs in the Football League who may be in need of a winger.

While things admittedly did not work out for him on loan at Hull, he still showed a great deal of potential, in some challenging circumstances, right at the start of his career with Derby.

That, combined with the improvements he ought to have made by working in a Premier League setup at Crystal Palace, means he still has plenty ability to offer for whoever is able to sign him.

As a result, it may be no huge surprise if there is something of a battle for Ebiowei's signature among clubs in the EFL, over the course of the next few weeks.
