With Francis Abu sidelined long term, Toulouse hope to recruit a midfielder | OneFootball

According to L'Équipe, Carles Martinez Novell hopes to add a midfielder this winter after Francis Abu's long-term injury, and Toulouse are not expected to be very active in the market.

Abu is out for an extended period following a double fracture of his right tibia and fibula sustained with Ghana. Martinez Novell said he had discussed a replacement with the club and they would try to find one, though he was unsure it would be possible, speaking after Saturday's 3-0 win over Paris FC.

Any addition in midfield could come on loan to keep costs down. Beyond that, the squad, whose performances have improved since the start of the season, is not expected to change much.

The Spanish coach did not rule out strengthening other areas, such as left-back or up front, if opportunities arise.

Outgoings are also expected to be limited, with movement likely only among players who have featured little or not at all.
